... I can perfectly recall the date, it was the 12th of October. I was in the tower of The Pirate, in front of the small barren island of Es Vedrà, a magical place for the people of Ibiza, observing a wonderful sunset. When night fell, a green ball came suddenly at great speed, through the rear of the small barren island, leaving its track behind, stopping itself in front of me, with its oval shaped form. To my surprise, I observed that its size could vary, its colour was an intense fluorescent green with two great eyes that looked at me with much intensity, and a pair of small antennas that oscillated slightly, also I noticed that it´s colour changed depending on it´s circumstances. Totally stunned by what it was seeing but without any sense of fear nor stlessness, it began to move around, inspecting me, and in his movements it produced a particular noise that sounded like:

DUFFY..TUFFY...SNUFFY. A moment passed; I cannot recall if they were seconds or minutes, time seemed to stand still and, just at that moment, producing a feeling of fright in me, it disappeared at great speed in the same direction from where it had come. In a short while, it returned, this time preceded by what looked like a large piece of crystal, producing a pulsing light from within. Stopping itself again in front of me, it threw this crystal down which shattered into many pieces, amazingly forming the same shape as Es Vedra.
Its´ attitude was friendly at all times and its eyes reflected a certain playfulness and mocking expression, mirroring my incredulity to what was occurring. It later disappeared into the horizon and that was the last I saw of it. I usually carry a camera and a recorder in my pocket, but unfortunately I could not photograph it, although it will remain engraved in my memory for the rest of my life. I did, however, manage to record the sounds it emitted in its´ movements. After I recovered from this fantastic encounter, I gathered the crystals that were left. Which I began to call “KRYPTONITE”, which Carl Cox refers to as a "RADIOACTIVE SNOT" and some people call it ¨VEDRANITA¨.
I did not know their exact composition. Some time after this episode, I contacted a friend in the United States who studies this type of phenomena, telling him what had happened. He requested I send the recording to him so that he could analyse it, considering he works in the special effects department of George Lucas´s production company and has access an extremely powerful computer named "Deep Blue”. Processing the recording, he noticed that the sounds emitted reproduce musical notes with numerical sequences that translated into the following message: “my mission in the universe is to find elements that project positive energies, to help guide them with that which I have left you, thus balancing the cosmic forces. I have observed that here in your planet there are entities that you call DJ´s, who have the gift of mixing rhythms with musical notes, congregating crowds of people, and achieving a state of harmony among them, thus producing a special vibration and certain element of magic.

This is the reason why you must give the best of these DJs a piece of this, helping me in the mission I have been entrusted with.” Ultimately, this is how the idea of an awards ceremony for DJs began, because it was the easiest way to find these dj´s, so I called it the DJ AWARDS, reuniting the best DJs in each category every year and paying tribute to their accomplishments by offering them a piece of "KRYPTONITE", in honour of my friend DUFFY..TUFFY...SNUFFY, or whatever it is called...
