2011 Winner – THATDJ British winner Simon flew over to join Mark Knight for the prize of a 1hr master-class with the Toolroom Records boss. Simon took home some valuable tips from Mark and was then invited to play right after the Swedish House Mafia had finished their closing pre-party a set at Mambo in-front of a large crowd. After attending the DJ Awards press cocktail party the following night, he then watched the 14th Edition of the DJ Awards at Pacha.

TOP DJ MARK KNIGHT ANNOUNCED FOR THE MASTERCLASS

The Bedroom DJ Competition Round 3 is now ready to search for the next aspiring superstar DJ who will win a prize of a lifetime...a trip to Ibiza for their own private masterclass with top DJ Mark Knight. Toolroom Records boss and Grammy nominated artist Mark is responsible for some of the biggest dance tracks of the last decade. He is a leading player on the DJ circuit, internationally and has a residency at Space Ibiza this summer. Mark says "I´m really excited and honoured to have been asked. Its an amazing season for me in Ibiza and i´m looking forward to passing on some DJ tips to this year´s Bedroom DJ winner"

The masterclass will take place in the studios owned by one of Ibiza´s iconic sunset bars Mambo, you may also get the chance to play from their sunset terrace * (more information in the terms & conditions), plus flights and accomodation in a very cool boutique hotel.

Plus a complete Pioneer set-up consisting of 2 CDJ-350 multi-player decks, the DJM-350 mixer with USB recording and a custom fit flight case to take your set to the people. Oh and a brand new pair of HDJ-500 headphones for the winner and 3 runners-ups in a choice of three colours -  red, black or white. The winner and their guest will have VIP entry into the 14th Edition of the DJ Awards at Pacha, plus a goodie bag of DJ Awards merchandise....excited?

Entry into the competition will close on Sunday 18th September 2011. The DJ Awards will announce the winner of The Bedroom DJ Competition ROUND 3 week commencing 19th September 2011. To enter into this once in a lifetime competition that could set you up on the ladder of DJ stardom, please read carefully all the rules and regulations.

Take note - to impress the judges they will be looking for; technique with your mixing skills, be experimental and stand out from the crowd - good luck!

Rules, Regulations and technical requirements:

  1. Parcipants must be over 18
  2. The DJ must play either vinyl or CD’s to control the pitch of the tracks.
  3. No software mixing, only real-time hands-on setups are allowed.
  4. The camera must remain in a fixed position giving a good complete view of both decks, mixer, and the movements of faders and eq’s.
  5. Quality of sound is important: unless the camera microphone gives excellent results, a line recording of the mix is preferred.
  6. Only one DJ per video, no back-to-backs.
  7. The video can only run up to 10 minutes long, further recording will be ignored by the jury.
  8. Only one video per artist.
  9. The DJ must create/login to their personal account to upload they entry video.
  10. Votes of any kind are NOT counted towards the final jurys decision.
  11. The winner is judged against a set of criteria, specific areas to impress the judges should be in technique,  miximg skills and innovation.
  12. The jury’s decision is final.
  13. The top ten selected DJ session will be announce for their individual merits.
  14. A single finalist will be selected and invited to Ibiza for a professional masterclass.
  15. All styles of music will be accepted.
  16. Only AMATUERS may enter, anyone who currently has management or publishing deals will not be eligible to enter.
  17. No videos will be accepted if they contain any product endorsements or contain commercial advertising
  18. All entries will be accepted until midnight on 18th September, any entry sent after this will not be accepted.
  19. 2 x return flights & 1 x double room will be offered to the winner and their partner, any other expenses such as taxis, food etc will not be covered.
  20. All winners must be hold a current passport and be available to travel on September 25th and returning on September 29th.
  21. A DJ set at Mambo is subject to the winners musical style so therefore may not be offered if the style is not suitable.
  22. The winner must make themselves available for any press interviews the DJ Awards set up.


Remember this is not a sport event, there is no definitive best, the DJ must win the jury’s affection the same way the DJ wins over a crowd.

2010 Winner Round 2 – SERGIO PANTEPAJEVS

Based in Dublin, Sergio won the second round and was flown over to Ibiza. He had his masterclass with ambient producer/DJ Mixmaster Morris.

2009 Winner Round 1 – DROOLOTTE


in collaboration with Paul van Dyk and Dance4life. Winner of the competition, Droolotte travelled from Malaysia to experience a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Paul van Dyk tutored Droolotte on how to work a crowd from the beginning to the end of his set. Droolotte was able to learn about Paul van Dyk’s unique set up of equipment and mixing skills using Appleton and Pioneer, at first hand.
